Hi, this is Walker and Maria from Munday Scientific Instrument Service. Today, we’re going to show you how to assemble your Olympus BX45 microscope once you receive it.
We’ll start by reviewing the included components and then walk you through the assembly process step by step.
Components Included
When you receive your BX45 microscope, you should have the following parts:
- BX45 microscope stand (with pre-installed objectives and condenser)
- Microscope stage
- Tilting head
- Lamp house
- Power cord
Step 1: Install the Microscope Head
We’ll begin by installing the tilting head.
Installation Steps:
- Locate the 3 mm Allen wrench in the upper-right side of the microscope stand
- Remove the wrench
- Position the head over the C-mount
- Slide the head into place
- Tighten the retaining screw using the 3 mm Allen wrench
Important Tip:
Tighten the screw until it is snug, but do not over-tighten.
Step 2: Install the Stage
Next, we’ll install the microscope stage.
Preparation:
- Raise the objectives to their highest position
- Rotate your lowest power objective to the front
- This helps prevent accidental bumps or damage
Lower the Condenser Top Element
Before installing the stage:
- Use the small lever on the condenser
- Flip the condenser top element downward
This creates more clearance for stage installation.
Stage Installation Steps:
- Slide the stage into position
- Align it with the stage mount
- Pull it forward slightly until you feel it click into place
- Tighten the retaining screw with the 3 mm Allen wrench
Again, only a few turns are needed—tighten until snug, but do not over-tighten.
Step 3: Return the Allen Wrench
Once the stage is secured:
- Replace the Allen wrench in its storage slot on the microscope
This helps keep it accessible for future adjustments.
Step 4: Install the Lamp House
Now we’ll install the lamp house.
Installation Steps:
- Locate the two pins on the back of the lamp house
- Align them with the corresponding holes on the rear of the microscope
- Press the lamp house firmly into place
Step 5: Connect the Power Cord
Finally:
- Take the power cord
- Make sure the narrow side is oriented upward
- Insert it into the power socket
- Press firmly until fully seated
Assembly Complete
Once these steps are complete, your Olympus BX45 microscope is assembled and ready for setup and use.
