Upgrade your Olympus BH2 to LED
Read the Edited Video Transcript for the Olympus BH2 LED Upgrade
Hi, this is Chad with Munday Scientific. Today, we’re going to talk about the Olympus BH2 microscope, specifically what to do when your light no longer works or if you want to upgrade to LED.
We offer an LED kit, and I’m going to show you how easy it is to install.
When your kit ships, it will look like this. Upon unboxing, you will receive several components: a power supply, two speed connectors, a rheostat, and an LED module.
This kit bypasses all of the electronics in the microscope. You’ll remove the old lamp house — which is usually the culprit, whether the lamp house itself or the electronics are bad — or you may simply want to upgrade to LED for better performance.
Installation is very straightforward. Although it’s a tight fit, the pins will align with the two holes on the microscope. It’s a true plug-and-play setup. You may need to wiggle it in gently because of the tight fit, but once in, it sits securely.
Next, plug the unit into the wall. Included in the box, you’ll find a piece of double-sided tape that allows you to mount the rheostat wherever you prefer.
You will no longer need the blue filter, so you can remove and disregard it.
The new LED light is a bright, clean white, and the potentiometer (rheostat) functions smoothly — it even clicks when turning on and off for easy operation. Most users will mount the control unit near the base, using the double-sided tape.
With this kit, your Olympus BH2 will function like new again! It’s a very easy, user-friendly, and truly plug-and-play upgrade.
