Read the Edited Video Transcript for ‘Nikon Microscope TS100 Assembly’

Hey, this is Scott with Munday Scientific. I have this Nikon TS100 tissue culture microscope already disassembled, and I’m going to show you how to put it back together.

If you’re looking to disassemble the microscope instead, simply reverse the steps we’re covering here.

Shipping Tips Before Reassembly

If you’re shipping a Nikon TS100 to us:

  • Wrap each component individually in bubble wrap
  • Use a double-boxing method
  • Secure all parts carefully

Proper packing greatly increases the chances that your microscope will arrive safely and in one piece.

Step 1: Reinstall the Head

The trinocular or binocular head is secured using three 3 mm screws.

Key Notes:

  • The head is pinned in place
  • It only aligns one way
  • This makes installation straightforward and helps prevent mistakes

Installation Steps:

  1. Position the head correctly
  2. Align the pins
  3. Tighten the three 3 mm screws

Because of the pin alignment, it’s very difficult to install incorrectly.

Step 2: Reinstall the Stage

The stage is mounted using three 4 mm screws.

Important Tip:

Sometimes there may be:

  • A washer
  • A shim

Be sure to watch carefully for these components during reassembly, as they are important for proper alignment.

Installation Steps:

  1. Position the stage
  2. Align screw holes
  3. Replace any washers or shims if present
  4. Tighten the three 4 mm screws

Step 3: Connect the Light Source

The light source connector includes a keyway, so it will only fit one way.

Installation Steps:

  1. Align the connector with the keyway
  2. Insert it carefully
  3. Tighten the connector securely
  4. Attach the power cord

This ensures proper electrical connection.

Step 4: Install the Condenser

The condenser is installed underneath the stage and secured with a thumb screw.

Installation Steps:

  1. Slide the condenser into position
  2. Tighten the thumb screw

Once tightened, the condenser is locked in place.

Step 5: Configure the Phase Rings

For tissue culture applications, proper phase ring alignment is essential.

Make sure the correct:

  • Condenser phase ring
  • Objective phase setting

are selected for your intended magnification.

Ready for Tissue Culture Work

Once assembled:

  • Head installed
  • Stage mounted
  • Light source connected
  • Condenser secured
  • Phase rings aligned

Your Nikon TS100 is ready to begin tissue culture observation.

The Nikon TS100 is a reliable and highly effective microscope for:
