Hey, this is Chad with Munday Scientific. Today, we’re going to show you our new LED Illuminator Module.
This product is designed for situations where:
- The electronics in your older microscope have burned out
- You want to upgrade your microscope to a modern LED illumination system
This is an easy and effective way to modernize older microscopes without replacing the entire unit.
What’s Included in the LED Upgrade Kit
The LED Illuminator Module comes with several components:
LED Module (LED Puck)
- Mounted on a compact “puck” design
- Includes a speed connector
- Labeled with a tab indicating which microscope models it is compatible with
Brightness Control Module
- Allows you to adjust light intensity
- Includes a click-off position
Power Supply

Connecting the Components
Assembly is straightforward.
Step 1: Connect the Power Supply
- Plug the power supply into a standard outlet
Step 2: Connect to the Brightness Control Module
- Insert the male end of the power supply into the female end of the brightness control module
Step 3: Connect the Brightness Control to the LED Module
- Take the male end from the brightness control module
- Plug it into the female end of the LED module
Once connected, the unit is fully assembled and ready to use.
Brightness Adjustment

Installing the LED Module on a Microscope
For this example, we’re using an Olympus BX40 microscope.
Step 1: Remove the Existing Lamp House
- Wiggle the original lamp house free
- Slide it out carefully
- Set it aside
Step 2: Install the LED Puck
- Slide the LED module into the same two keyways used by the original lamp house
Because it uses the existing mounting system, installation is quick and simple.
Mounting the Brightness Control
The brightness control module includes double-sided tape, allowing you to mount it wherever it is most convenient on your microscope setup.
Once mounted, your microscope is fully upgraded and ready to use.
