Green Button on BX Microscope?
Read the Edited Video Transcript for ‘Green Button on BX Microscope?’
Hey, this is Chad from Munday Scientific. Today, we’re going to talk about something we get calls about all the time—this green square right here. It’s the preset button on the Olympus BX series microscopes.
If you notice that the button is illuminated and the light isn’t adjusting, many people assume there’s a problem with the microscope—like the potentiometer or the rheostat isn’t working. But it’s actually just this preset button.
If you press the button again, the light will adjust normally.
This feature is helpful if you have specific light levels you prefer. For example, if two people are using the microscope—one likes to adjust the brightness manually, and the other prefers a consistent setting—this preset button allows for that flexibility.
Adjusting the Green Reset Light Intensity
To set it up, simply press the preset button. Then, using a small flathead screwdriver, adjust the light level using the control right here. You can dial in the perfect intensity for your eyes. Once it’s set, the microscope will maintain that light level whenever the preset is activated.
When the next person uses the microscope, they can just press the button again to go back to manual control.
