Hey, this is Chad with Munday Scientific. Today, we’re going to show you how to replace the light bulb on a Nikon E400 microscope.
This is a quick and easy maintenance procedure that only takes a few minutes.
Replacement Bulb
The Nikon E400 uses an:
- Osram HLX 64265
- 6 Volt, 30 Watt halogen bulb
We’ll include a link to the replacement bulb in the video description.
Removing the Lamp House Cover
Locate the two release tabs on either side of the lamp house.
Press both tabs inward at the same time, then pull the lamp house cover straight off. This will expose the bulb inside.
Removing the Old Bulb
If the microscope has been in use, allow the bulb to cool completely before handling it.
Using a Kimwipe, tissue, or another clean, lint-free material, carefully remove the old bulb from the socket.
Avoid touching the bulb with your bare fingers.
Installing the New Bulb
Open the package containing the new Osram HLX 64265 (6V, 30W) bulb.
The replacement bulb is packaged in a protective plastic sleeve, which makes installation easy without touching the glass.
Using either the plastic sleeve or a Kimwipe:
- Align the two pins with the socket.
- Insert the bulb firmly into place.
- Remove the protective sleeve once the bulb is fully seated.
Your new bulb is now installed.
Reinstalling the Lamp House
Align the lamp house cover with the microscope and press it back into place until both release tabs snap securely into position.
The microscope is now ready for use.
